I was very sad to hear the news that Phil
Snack passed away last month. Phil was a true gentleman; a kind, generous man
and a truly wonderful saxophonist. It was always a real pleasure and honour for
me to play with Phil and he, along with his music, will be sadly missed.

The
ZAK BARRETT QUARTET released their first album, ‘XI by IV’ in January 2003; it
consists of all original music composed by Zak and features: Pete Riley (drums),
Andy Staples (bass), Sam (piano / keyboards) and Zak (sax).
‘Featuring a line up of some of the hottest jazz talent in
the area they perform lively, funk-induced jazz of the highest quality. The
quartet play completely original material by Barrett and Edwards.’

four years now Sam has been playing for Katy Setterfield and is now musical
director for this show.

show. After winning the BBC talent contest The One and Only, Katy went on to perform in ‘Legends in Concert’ in Las Vegas and
then toured all round the UK with her fabulous concert show paying tribute to Dusty
and other great female vocalists as well as introducing the fantastic singing
talents of Katy in her own right.”

Sam continues to record and arrange backing tapes for
various dance / theatre school projects including ‘Make believe’ productions,
Tiffany’s theatre college in Southend and Claire Cooper’s Billericay Dance
Centre. Sam also composed and performed the score for a documentary on ‘Hylands
House’ in Chelmsford (released in the autumn of 2003) and ‘Fulham Palace’
(2006/’07) both short films by Phil Rhodes.
She has a new show ‘De-lovely; a tribute to Cole Porter’

THE LOTUS STRING
QUARTET is made up of four
freelance professional musicians (two violins, viola and cello) playing in and
